When we were deciding on a location for our honeymoon we knew we wanted somewhere warm. Our wedding was going to be in October and had the potential to be a cold day so we didn’t want to immediately follow that up with another cold location. We wanted to relax in the sun and explore a fun location. Our first thought was Italy (hindsight I am SO glad we didn’t book that trip because COVID would have definitely cancelled that), but we decided that when we do go to Italy we want to make a long 2-week trip out of it. So we started looking more tropical: Hawaii, St. Lucia, etc. That’s when Ryan remembered a trip he took when he was younger to Isla Mujeres off the coast of Mexico! He said it was such a fun vacation and he’s love to go back now that he’s older. We ended up staying at the Excellence Resort on Playa Mujeres and it was AMAZING! The food, the accommodations, the scenery, etc. Seriously a trip we will never forget.

While we did enjoy some of the amenities at the resort like the spa, beach lounge area and various restaurants; we also wanted to explore some! We ended up going on a scuba diving excursion (my first time ever scuba diving), took the ferry out to Isla Mujeres for the day and hiked along the cliffs, and even took a boat out to go snorkeling!
