I’m writing this as our 1 year ANNIVERSARY approaches in just 2 short months!! To think that’s it’s been an entire year since we got married is a little crazy to think about sometimes.. but at the same moment, I feel as though we have been married longer than that. And I don’t mean that in a negative way! I think the fact that Ryan and I have clicked so well since the beginning has made our relationship feel like it’s been longer than it really has. Even though we’ve only actually known each other for a few short years, I feel like I’ve known him my whole life!
Thinking back to our wedding day, and all of the hurdles we jumped over to make our Wrightsville Manor wedding happen during one of the most chaotic years either of us had ever experienced. There was a time during wedding planning where we weren’t even sure we were going to be able to have a wedding in 2020. And then we had to think about whether or not it would be the type of wedding we had hoped for.. about the fact that a significant chunk of our friends and family were going to have to miss out on the most special day of our lives. But all that to say, in the end, it was the most perfect and MAGICAL day!
One year ago, in the middle of October, Ryan and I gathered with 75 of our closest friends and family to unite as one. I had put so much thought and effort into planning every little detail and compiling a team of the most incredible vendors to bring our vision to life! Every girl dreams of what her wedding day will be like. Honestly, growing up, that dream looked different a few different times. But when it came to the actual day, I could not have dreamed of anything better. Our Wrightsville Manor wedding was, simply put, PERFECT.
We stood up at the front of the altar as we said our vows and were married by my cousin Angelo. It is such a bitter sweet memory that my cousin, who passed away shortly after our wedding, was the one to marry us on that day. When we were planning the ceremony, we knew that we wanted someone close to us to be our officiant. Neither of us wanted a stranger standing next to us talking about our love story when they didn’t really even know us. The idea popped into my head to ask my cousin. He was more than happy to do it despite the fact that he had no clue what it entailed haha. He took his role seriously and made the effort to ask us about relationship, talk to our friends and family about stories they had of the two of us, and came up with the perfect speech for our ceremony. It made us laugh, it made us cry, and looking back it still makes me tear up. I whole heartedly believe it was not a coincidence that we decided to ask Angelo to be such a big part of our special day. It was meant to be. Just like Ryan and I were meant to be.
There is so much of our lives we have yet to experience, but I could not ask for a better partner to go on the adventures of life with. This past year has been full of so many fun and exciting experiences and I can’t wait for what lies ahead! Knowing I have someone by my side at all times to hold my hand, cheer me on, lift me up and keep me sane; is everything. Ryan, you are everything I could have ever hoped for in a husband and I just love being your WIFE!
Happy Anniversary babe!!
