Kimi & Marcus Engagement | Milliken Field | Spartanburg, SC

Portraits

May 3, 2022

I met Kimi and Marcus for the first time last year when Marcus hired me to photograph his surprise proposal in Charlotte! I knew from the short time that I spent with them that they were a special couple. So I was definitely excited to see them again for their Spartanburg engagement session! We had originally decided to shoot their session at Max Patch in Asheville. However, after some location scouting, forecast research and further discussion, we decided to move it to Milliken Arboretum in Spartanburg. And let me tell you what, I am SO happy with how it turned out!

Kimi and Marcus have been together for 9 years now and are getting married next March on their 10 year anniversary! (Bonus, it’s also on my birthday!) They are holding their event at the Grand Bohemian in downtown Charlotte which is going to be amazing. So since their proposal and wedding will both be downtown settings, Kimi and Marcus decided they wanted to change it up a little for their engagement session! Milliken Arboretum turned out to be the perfect spot. The lush trees and expansive fields were the perfect romantic backdrop for their airy spring session!

When Kimi told me they were bringing their fur baby Brody to their Spartanburg engagement session I was thrilled! As a fellow dog mama I am all for including those floofy babies in your photos. Usually it is a little bit of a challenge to get the dog(s) to actually look at the camera, but Brody was a champ! He was so good and I got some of the sweetest shots of the three of them together! To top it all off, the sun even peeked out for a bit on this cloudy day to provide us with a little glow. I had the best time with Kimi and Marcus, and I CANNOT wait for their wedding next spring!
